Iliya Mirochnik grew up in New York, but was educated in both Russia and the United States. He currently lives in Florida where he is a professor of painting in Ringling College of Art and Design. Iliya  is an accomplished artist who has won many accolades for his work. In addition to teaching in the U.S,  the artist has led workshops from in U.S. and Europe.

Since 2009 Iliya has shown his work in over 20 galleries spanning from the United States to Austria, Romania, and Russia. Some of Mr. Mirochink’s accomplishments include having had a residency in Salzburg, Austria in 2016, a scholarship from the Deadalus Foundation in 2006, The First Place Award in 2013 in the International Portrait Competition held by The Portrait Society of America. The same organization awarded Mr. Mirochnik the 8th Merit Award in the Members Only Competition in 2014.

Movement and the human form are repeating themes in Mr. Mirochnik’s works. The curvatures, intricacies and shading that the artist uses brings the human form to life on paper can conversely illicit images of idle stillness.
